Carol Martin (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Carol Martin, 81, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 in the Central Church of Christ with Mr. Tim Johnson and Mr. Gary Weaks officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Flomot. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Carol was born on September 10, 1936 in the Folley Community in Motley County to Bly and Annie Shannon. She grew up in Flomot and graduated from Flomot High School. She married Donnie Martin on November 15, 1954. They lived at Flomot, Turkey and Quitaque before moving to Silverton in 1967 and she began working for Rhode Pipe Construction as their office manager until she retired in 1990. She also sold Avon for several years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Silverton until moving to Tulia in 2015 and joined the Central Church of Christ in Tulia. She loved her family with all her heart and loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donnie, who passed away on October 14, 2016 and her sister and brother-in-law: Velma and Vernon Winston. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Karen Lea and Greg Hill of Houston, her son and daughter-in-law: Derrel and Karen Martin of Tulia, two brothers and sisters-in-law: Billy and Suzie Shannon of Flomot and Doyle and Sue Shannon of Roaring Springs, five grandchildren: Nikki and Cody Rogers of Zephyr, Amy and Tim McAtee of Tulia, Dianna and Chad Morgan of Tulia, Cortney and Josh Foraker of Amarillo and Taylor and Tom Wolf of Abbeville, Louisiana and ten great grandchildren.
