Charles E. Hatcher, 86, of Tulia passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 27, 2024 in the First Baptist Church with Mr. Bobby Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
A visitation will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 PM Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at the funeral home.
Charles was born on October 6, 1938 in Taylor Town, Texas to Floyd L. Hatcher and Rebecca (Love) Hatcher. He graduated from Quanah High School and after graduation he worked for EMS in Quanah. He met and married Carol J. Butler on May 20, 1959 in Quanah, Texas and they moved to Tulia. He worked at the Chevrolet House for several years as a mechanic. Tulia ISD offered Charles the opportunity to implement the Auto Tech Program for Tulia High School in 1967. He took his parliamentary procedure team to the nationals in Virginia and won third place in 1972. He worked for Tulia High School for thirty-four years. Charles did not sit around well and took a part time job in the pro shop at the golf course, delivered parts for Tulia Auto, and drove a school bus. He enjoyed going to his grandkid’s events and taking his loyal sidekick, Sassy.
Charles had a quiet side to him but had amazingly fast comebacks and had a green thumb for gardening. He liked to drive around town and loved to go fishing. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tulia.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Rebecca Hatcher, his wife, Carol J. Hatcher, his siblings, J.L Hatcher, Floyd “Jabo” Hatcher, Rebecca Ann Hatcher, and Wanda Beattie.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Reeves and husband Frank, Mary Catherine Chadwick and husband Robert; his son, Michael Hatcher and wife Debra; his grandchildren, Zach Reeves, Ryan Hatcher and wife Emily, Amber Cash and husband Erin, Kayla Fojtasek and husband Zachary, Megan Gilliam and husband Matt, Chris Chadwick and wife Sarah; his great-grandchildren, Christian, Ayden, Kaylee, Connor, Lilly, William, Wyatt, Berkley, Brayson, Charlie and Vivian.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 101 N. Crosby, Tulia, Texas 79088 or the Tulia High School, Auto Tech, 501 Hornet Place, Tulia, Texas 79088.
