Virginia “Chrystelle” Mitchell, of Plainview, made her journey to Heaven on December 16, 2024.
Chrystelle was born on March 30, 1934 in Plainview to Bradford and Georgia Cox. She attended Plainview High School, and went on to Lipperts Business College in Plainview. She then attended Beauty School in Lubbock, Texas, and worked several years as a hairdresser. She married Loyd Ross Mitchell on March 11, 1955. Together they had two daughters, Cardelia and Marci. Her husband proceeded her in death on March 6, 2001.
Chrystelle was a woman of many talents. She was a homemaker and enjoyed entertaining in her home. She was well known for her cooking, sewing, and her talent for decorating. Her house at Christmas time always looked like a winter wonderland, full of beautiful decorations, every kind of cookies, pies, candy and everything you can imagine. She took up golf, bridge and painted ceramics. Her visitors to her house were always in awe of her many beautiful Santas she had painted.
Chrystelle was a true “prayer warrior”. Always reminding her daughters of God’s timing. Her goal every year was to read the Bible completely over, beginning to end. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Plainview, and served her community, volunteering for Meals on Wheels, FISH, visitation of the sick and elderly. She used her wonderful skills by playing the piano at various nursing homes in the community. She played the piano by ear, and also learned some of her piano skills from Jimmy Dean also.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents, five brothers and six sisters, of which she was the youngest, and a special angel, Christopher Beck, a grandson.
She is survived by her children, Cardelia Jones and husband Rex of Plainview, Texas; Marci Beck of Houston, Texas; her five grandchildren, Chase Beck, Brianna Beck, Megan Beck, and Jon Ross Jones and Greg Jones.
The funeral celebration will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial will follow in the Plainview Memorial Park.
A special thanks to Pat, Linda, and all the workers at Westridge Manor, Jill and the staff at Traditions Hospice. We could have not made it through this journey without your help.
The bible verse, Matthew 25:23… “Well done, good and faithful servant” is well suited for the life of Chrystelle Mitchell and her wonderful service to our Lord.
