Cordie Johnston (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas-Cordie Johnston, 86, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Mr. Tim Johnson officiating with burial following at Rose Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel.

Cordie was born on July 29, 1935 in Paris, Texas to Bobbie Lee and Bessie Lou (Berry) Kinslow. She met and married the love of her life Bufford Garland Johnston in 1954 in Clovis New Mexico. Cordie was known as a loving and caring mother who took in and adopted many children into her home. She ran and operated the Conestoga Restaurant and B & C Oil in Tulia for many years. She was a queen when it came down to playing Farkle and Skipbo dice game. For the most part she was a housewife and her favorite thing in the world was holding babies. She was known for having a hard head and being stubborn but having the biggest heart.

She preceded in death by her parents, Bobbie and Bessie Kinslow; her husband, Bufford Johnston; her daughters, Debra Johnston Myers and Nina Johnston Green; her son, Bradford Johnston and wife Melissa (Missy); her brothers and sisters, Ellen Kinslow Airehart and husband Melvin Leon, William (Pete) Kinslow and wife Malenda Faye; her grandchildren, Christina Pickering, Danny King; her great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Johnston.

She is survived by her children, James (Jimmy) and wife Becky Johnston, Charles Johnston and wife Susan Johnston, Malisa Johnston and husband James Smith, Annie Johnston Lowry and husband John Lowry; her grandchildren, Candi Johnston, Garland Green, Vanessa Pickering, Charles Dean Johnston and wife Susan, Tabitha Johnston, Chelsie Johnston, Misty Cox Johnston and husband Dylan, Cera and Jorden Valdez, Braden Fuentes and wife Liz, Cheyanne Johnston, Cereiti Johnston, Ashley Pittman and husband Chris, Patrick Pittman and wife Elizabeth, Nolan Edwards and wife Heather, David King and wife Miranda, Cody Lowry, Austin Lowry; 41 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
