David Lee Hulsey, Sr., 75, of Amarillo passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 27, 2024 in the First Presbyterian Church in Tulia with Rev. Scott Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. David Lee Hulsey was born to Kirk and Poppy Hulsey on December 31, 1948. He is preceded in death by both parents and his older brother Bill Hulsey. David is survived by his wife DeeDee Hulsey of Amarillo, two sons, David Lee Hulsey, Jr. and wife Sarah of Georgetown, and William Hulsey and wife Diana of Germantown, Maryland, as well as DeeDee’s children Zack Palomino and wife Tai, Jennifer Palomino, and Apryl Albracht and husband Nick. His grandchildren include Lily and Luke Hulsey; Robbie and Evie Hulsey; Ana, Nate, Katie, and Emily Palomino; Preston Palomino and Desiree Stephenson; and Abby, Archer, Cain, and Tash Albracht. Great grandchildren are Iyana, Hannah, and Zane. David is, likewise, survived by his older sister Janie and husband Ken Burrow of Georgetown and older brother Chappy Hulsey of Austin, as well as his nephews Kyle and Mark Burrow and niece Tracy Asmus. David Lee Hulsey, a proud graduate of Tulia High School in 1967, pursued higher education at both Colorado State University and North Texas State University (now UNT). His academic journey led him into a career with the Texas Parks and Wildlife as well as a Corrections Officer at the Clements Unit in Amarillo where he retired in 2012 after 24 years of service. He spent a good deal of his retirement working at Scott’s Flowers in Amarillo. Beyond his professional life, David’s passions included a profound love for music and the outdoors, which shaped the moments he shared with friends and family. In celebrating David Lee Hulsey’s life, we remember a man who found joy in the simple pleasures and left an enduring impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him.
