Tulia, Texas—Dean Nolen, 90, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 11:00 am with Rev. James Williams and Rev. Eddy Helms officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
Dean was born on August 7, 1929 in Lamar, County to L.E. and Alvie Mae Nolen. He married the love of his life Geraldine Jones on October 16, 1948. In 1952 they moved to Swisher County and raised all their children. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church. Dean was a man of many trades, he built and worked at many cotton gins. He owned and operated Nolen Well Service for many years and farmed until his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Geraldine Nolen, three brothers: Melvin Nolen, Raymond Nolen and Lewis Grant Nolen, three sisters: Ruby Vaughn, Dorothy Williams and Sue Overton, two great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
He is survived by his children: Garland Nolen of Bullard, Texas, LaRue and Michelle Nolen of Otis, Oregon, Todd and Darla Nolen of Cleburne, Texas, Adam Nolen of Tulia, Texas, Joy and Melvin Wethington of Nazareth, Texas and Jill and Glenn Ehly of Nazareth, Texas, two brothers: Charley and Jerry Nolen of Tulia, Texas and John Nolen of Wichita Falls, Texas, 19 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and eight great, great grandchildren.
His greatest pleasure was his family and horses. Daddy knew no boundaries with his love, “He LOVED ALL.”
