Tulia, Texas--Dianne Smith Haney has gone to be with her Lord on December 2, 2021, in Tulia, TX, and was born September 2, 1954, in Morton, TX. Her parents were D.L. Smith and Helen P. Crow Smith. She and her family moved around from farming communities to cities in the Panhandle & the South Plains of Texas. Here, especially at her Granny’s side, she learned to cook & can the great harvests from the garden. In 1965, after her parents’ divorce, along with her mother and 5 other siblings, Linda, D. Lynn, herself, Doyce, Leonard, and Sally, finally found a permanent home in Tulia, Texas. Once in Tulia, Dianne found a new home, one at First Baptist Church, also. Dianne went on to graduate from Tulia High School. Dianne met and married Terry Mansell. While they lived and worked in Tulia, they grew their family. Sherri, Nathan, and Jason all came along through the years. During that time Dianne worked at several places including First National Bank. Due to different job opportunities, the family moved, briefly to Hamlin, then on to Lubbock, where Dianne continued in the banking industry. While in Lubbock, she was able to continue her higher education at South Plains College. Sadly, the marriage dissolved, and Dianne decided to move her family back home, back to Tulia. Of course, she moved her family back to First Baptist Church, too. Dianne loved the Lord and her church family always meant so much to her. A few years later, she met and married Verne Haney. Matthew Haney came along not long after. Dianne got 2 bonus children also, Ruby Haney and Verne Haney, Jr. Soon after, sadly, that marriage too dissolved and she was a single mother, bonus children included. Dianne loved the Lord and became active in her church at an early age. She was always in choir throughout her life, including touring as a youth all over the country, a cherished memory of hers. She had helped in G.A.s, was active in her Sunday School class, taught in Vacation Bible School over the years, served on the Bereavement Committee, served on other church committees, and volunteered in the Church Library. It brought her much joy to serve the Lord through these activities. She also found enjoyment through groups like Red Hats Society and Hospital Auxiliary. Dianne found a new career caring for people with medical needs. This seemed to be her calling because she continued to do this for many years, up until she was diagnosed with cancer, that quickly took her life. Dianne had been blessed with 6 beautiful grandchildren. Dianne is preceded in death by her brother Lynn Smith, each of her parents: D.L. Smith and Helen Crow Smith, and her son Jason Mansell. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 6, 2021, at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church with Rev. John Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
