Tulia, Texas—Dolois Palmer, 83, passed away in Amarillo on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, July 3, 2021, in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Tulia. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the funeral home.
Dolois was born on May 20, 1938, in Dodson, Texas to Roy and Mamie Wilfong. She was the 3rd of 9 children. She grew up in the Wellington/Mclean area before moving to Tulia in 1954. She met Wheeler Palmer in 1956 and they were married February 21, 1958. She worked with Wheeler on the family farm until 1979 when she went to nursing school and became an LVN. She worked in Geriatrics in Nursing homes in the area and then worked as a Hospice nurse until she retired. She loved her family she loved to sing as she would sing in schools, nursing homes and funerals. She loved to tell stories and she always said she wanted to be the best Mama and Mema ever and she was.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three sisters: Erma Lou Holloway, Loretta Rushin and Brenda Gaither.
She is survived by two daughters: Cindy Barber and husband Jim of Amarillo and Gail Witt of Tulia, one son: Randy Palmer and wife Kelly of Gorman, Texas, one sister: Sharon Vickers and husband Sam of Lubbock, four brothers: Phillip Wilfong and wife Shirley of Amarillo, Bill Wilfong and wife Laquita of Amarillo, Ronnie Wilfong and wife Ka of Tulia and Garry Wilfong of Tulia, seven grandchildren: Rusty Reese and wife Michelle of Blair, Oklahoma, Rebecca Harris and husband Greg of Amarillo, Ragin Reese and wife Julie of Plainview, Ralan Reese and wife Lindsey of Panhandle, Ryan Isbell and Katherine Rodriguez of Mt. Kisco, NY, Thomas Palmer of Gorman, Texas and Tyler Palmer of Gorman, Texas, several great grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the BSA Hospice of the Southwest, 6600 Kilgore, Amarillo, Texas 79106.
