Tulia, Texas—Dorothy A. Stockett, 97, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in the First United Methodist Church in Tulia with Rev. Karan Carlton, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the Wayside Cemetery in Wayside. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the funeral home. Dorothy was born on March 16, 1921 in Happy to Elmer J.F. and Adele Goettsch Bauer. She graduated from Canyon High School in 1938. She married Roy Stockett on August 10, 1939 in Clayton, NM. She was a housewife and helped Roy on the farm and ranch. She was a member of the Swisher County Riders Club, the Elkins Home Demonstration Club and the First United Methodist Church in Tulia. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer J.F. and Adele Helena Goettsch Bauer, her husband, Roy Stockett, two sons, John Ray Stockett and Dr. Joe Stockett, DVM, four sisters, Margie Glenn, Thelma Ardis, Carrie Fisher and Evelyn Hill and one brother: Elmer Bauer, Jr. She is survived by one son, James Stockett of Amarillo, one daughter, Nita Hooper of Tulia, one brother-in-law, N.M. Stockett of Claude, nine grandchildren, Rusty Hooper of Tulia, Matt Hooper of Tulia, Miranda Eastwood of Tulia, Jacinda Langen of Lenora, Jeane Middleton of Happy, Janale Stockett of Mansfield, Jimmy Stockett of Happy, Rachel Schwankl of McKinney and Randy Stockett of Lakeside, AZ, 24 great grandchildren and nine great, great grandchildren.
