Tulia, Texas—Dr. James “Doc” Tucker, 86, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in Tulia. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Brunson officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Doc was born James Edward Tucker on January 22, 1932 in Houston. He grew up in Austin, Chicago and moved back to Marble Falls and graduated from Burnett High School in 1950. He then joined the US Army and served his term. He married Virginia Hays on December 12, 1952. He attended Texas A&M University and graduated in 1962 as a Veterinarian. They moved to Tulia and started working for Dr. Cross at the Animal Hospital. After Dr. Cross’ untimely death Doc took over his practice here in Tulia until he retired a couple of years ago. He is preceded in death by his parents James Crisp Tucker and Anita Matley Tucker, his infant twins, Jimmy and Jenny Tucker and two sisters, Patsy Vardell and Mary Lou Wright. He is survived by his wife of 65 1/2 years, Virginia Tucker of Tulia, one daughter: Cathy Clifford and husband Joe of Lubbock, one son: Jay Tucker of Tulia, one granddaughter: Dakota Limon of Lubbock, one sister: Camille Rubio of Mexico City, six nephews: Robert Wright of Kansas City, Jeff Wright of Kansas City, Pat Vardell of Austin, Paco Rubio of Mexico City, Sandy Rubio of Mexico City and Renee Rubio of Mexico City, and two nieces: Mary Pat Thorpe of Boulder, and Penny Vardell of Boulder.
