Earl Tenery (Plainview)

Earl Tenery passed away at the age of 90. Visitation will be held at Kornerstone Funeral Home on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 PM. A private family graveside service with Kyle Brock officiating will be held Friday, October 18, 2024. Earl was born in Milford, Texas to J.O. and Loraine Tenery. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1952. As a young man Earl worked as a bell hop at the Hilton Hotel in Plainview, Texas where he met the love of his life, Treva White. They wed on November 26, 1954 and celebrated 70 years of wedded bliss back in July when Earl also celebrated his 90th birthday. 

Earl was a life long water pump setter and co-owned J.O. Tenery Pump & Son with his Dad up until he retired. Earl enjoyed riding motorcycles and took numerous cross country trips on his motorcycle. He also enjoyed dancing and was a loyal member of the Belles and Beaux Square Dance club for many years. In their early years, Earl and Treva enjoyed camping out in their pop up camper and continued to upgrade until camping became glamping. They were members of the Good Sams club and enjoyed many trips, good food, games and bluegrass music with their Good Sams friends.

Earl was preceded in death by his father, J.O. Tenery, his mother Loraine Tenery and a son, David Earl Tenery. 

He is survived by his wife, Treva Tenery of the home, a son, Randy Tenery and wife Valorie of Burnet, Texas, a daughter, Darla Reese and husband Roy of Hale Center, Texas, grandchildren Aaron Blackerby and wife Coral, Kerry Blackerby and wife Jacki, Amber Dawes and husband Marcus, and Randyn Tenery and wife Katie, great grandchildren, Braedyn Dawes, Baylor Dawes, Brooklynn Dawes, Aby Lopez, AK Blackerby, Maya Jo Blackerby, Shyanne Blackerby, Hudson Blackerby and Jordy, Boedy and Landry Tenery. Earl is also survived by, a sister, Margaret Hooks , a nephew Danny Hooks and a niece Janet Hooks.

Earl was the OG “Great One” and was fiercely loved and will be greatly missed by his entire family. Rest easy Papa and we will see you again some day.
