Tulia, Texas—Elsie Rousseau, 88, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, January 14, 2019 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at the funeral home.
Elsie was born on May 4, 1930 to Elmer and Ola Knight. She grew up in the Wayside and Vigo Park area and attended schools in the Salem Community, Happy and Tulia. She married Bud Rousseau on October 25, 1947. She worked for the Tulia ISD cafeteria for 44 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and Pink Ladies Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers and sisters: George Knight, Leland Knight, Charles Knight, Pete Knight, Elva Jo Gore, Marvel Austin, her daughter: Freida Altman and a granddaughter: Jamie Altman.
She is survived by one son: Paul Rousseau and wife Dera of Tulia, three daughters: Debra Barnes and husband Mikeal of Tulia, Mary Robinson and husband Matt of Amarillo and Susan Meacham and husband Scott of Oklahoma City, her son-in-law: Danny Altman of Colorado, 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Swisher Memorial Residential Living Center, 539 SE 2nd St., Tulia, Texas 79088.
