Estella Hernandez, 91, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Tulia, Texas with Father Hector Madrigal officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
A rosary will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8 P.M. Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Tulia.
Born on May 12, 1933, in George West, Texas, to Poquinto Arredondo, Sr. and Antonia Arredonda, Estella lived a life filled with warmth, dedication, and kindness. On February 15, 1952, Estella married Eugene Hernandez, Sr. in Smiley, Texas, and together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. God and family was at the center of Estella's life, and she took great joy in spending time with her loved ones. A woman of many talents, Estella contributed to various industries in Tulia throughout her life. From working as a cook in restaurants to serving as a janitor at the high school, Estella's hard work and dedication left a lasting impact on those around her. She took pride in her roles at Tulia ISD, the local drug store, El Camino Restaurant, and as a cook at a nursing home. Not only did she excel in her career, but she also managed to be an extraordinary mother, grandmother, and great great grandmother. Estella had a love for shopping and often found herself at Dillards and Ross, indulging in her passion for fashion. Her family-oriented nature and caring personality endeared her to all who knew her.
Estella was preceded in death by her husband; Eugene Hernandez, Sr., son; Eugene Hernandez, Jr., and brother; Elojio Arredondo.
Estella is survived by her children; Ciria Resendiz and husband Juan of Amarillo, Estela A. Hernandez of Tulia, Silvia Tucker and husband Arty of Paducah, Edelia Jover and husband Joe of Red Oak, Clara Molina and husband Leon of Lubbock, Loresno Hernandez of Tulia, Elojio Hernandez of Tulia, and Manual Hernandez of Amarillo, brother; Paquinto Arredondo and wife Bridgette, sister; Esmeralda Gonzales and husband Ruben of San Antonio, twenty three grandchildren, sixty eight great grandchildren, and sixteen loving great great grandchildren.
