Evelyn Jones (Plainview)

Evelyn Arlene Jones, 94, of Plainview passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 16, 2022 at Harvest Christian Fellowship with Pastor Brad Snellgrove officiating. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Thursday evening, September 15, from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Evelyn was born on August 7, 1928 in Gravity, Iowa to Clifford and Faye Heller. She grew up in Iowa. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from William Jewel College in 1951. She moved to Wichita, Kansas before moving to Amarillo. She married Hugh Blair Jones on August 15, 1964. They moved Plainview in the 1970’s and then on to Colorado Springs before returning to Plainview in 1979. She worked in the youth department at First Baptist Church in Wichita and Amarillo. She served as a Pastors’ secretary for several years and also did Substitute teaching. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Blair Jones in 1999; brother, Edward Heller; and a sister, LaDonna Leonard. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Jones of Plainview; step-daughter, Jann Smith of Seguin; step-son, William Blair Jones of Carriere, Mississippi; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
