Tulia, Texas – Our precious Mom and Nana, Faye Jennings Henthorn, 91, went to be with her Savior on Sunday, August 13, 2023, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Davenport officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
A visitation will be held Friday, August 18, 2023 at 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Faye was born on February 1, 1932 in Tulia to Robert and Lois (Brewer) Jennings. She graduated from Tulia High School in 1949. After graduating from High School, she married Donald Eugene Henthorn on December 21, 1949 in Portales, New Mexico. In 1950 they welcomed their first child Mike Henthorn, the first out of the five children. The twins, Carol, and Tim, came 3 years later, followed by Robert and then Pam. Faye lived in the Tulia community all her life and stayed busy being in organization memberships like the Woman’s Study Club and Delta Sigma Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha.
Faye was a member and worked at the Tulia First Baptist Church as a secretary from 1975 till 2017, when she retired. She sang in the church choir, as well as the instructor for the children’s choir for thirty years. Faye was also the director for Vacation Bible School for 35 years. When Faye retired in 2017, First Baptist Church dedicated a day for her called “Faye Day”. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, but her favorite thing to do was sing hymns and spend time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lois Jennings, her husband, Donald Henthorn, her daughters, Carol Ann Henthorn Pergrem and Pamela Kay Henthorn Harrison, one son, Robert Henthorn and her sisters: Imogene Harris, Ernestine Bennett, Lucille Barbour and Kay Robinson.
She is survived by her other two sons, Mike Henthorn and wife Donna of Lubbock and Tim Henthorn and wife Suzanne of Fairview, her brother, Bob Jennings, and wife Jean of California, 12 grandchildren, Amy Scott, Chad Henthorn, Heather Bourland, Jennifer Askins, Clint Pergrem, Tyler Henthorn, Courtney Holwerda, Jarrad Henthorn, Rachael Smith, Sean Henthorn, Allison Jennings, and Stephen Henthorn and 26 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 101 N. Crosby, Tulia, Texas 79088.
