Garry Wilfong (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Garry Wilfong, 68, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, February 26, 2022, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Rusty Gray and Rev. Lee Bevly officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

Garry was born on April 29, 1953, in Hollis, Oklahoma to Roy and Mamie Wilfong. They lived in Dodson, OK before moving to Wellington, TX and then to Tulia, TX. He grew up in Tulia and graduated Tulia High School in 1972. He married Jayleen Whitmire on November 3, 1972. He farmed a short time with his father-in-law at Kress. He worked for his dad at their gas station. He started working for Archway Welding which began a long career in welding and metal trades. He worked for a short time with TXDOT in Plainview before working as the Metal Trades Instructor at Tulia High School for over 30 years. He also did metal construction and has built many buildings located around Tulia.

Garry is preceded in death by his parents: Roy and Mamie Wilfong, his wife: Jayleen Wilfong, and four sisters: Loretta Rushin, Brenda Gaither,  Erma Holloway and Dolois Palmer.

He is survived by his children: Craig Wilfong and wife Buffy of Amarillo, Vicki Bevly and husband Andrew of Lubbock, three brothers: Ronnie Wilfong and wife Ka of Tulia, Bill Wilfong and wife Laquita of Amarillo and Phillip Wilfong and wife Shirley of Amarillo, one sister: Sharon Vickers and husband Sam of Lubbock and his four grandchildren: Kenna Wilfong, Rhett Wilfong, Kathryn Bevly and Caroline Bevly.
