Vigo Park, Texas-Gary Dee Moore had a stroke Saturday evening, Jan 11, at his home at Vigo Park. On Sunday, Jan 12, a little before 6pm, Gary died in Amarillo at the age of 76 yrs. 4 mos. 10 days. He leaves behind his wife, Ann, of 58 yrs., daughter Elaine, grandson Mitchell, granddaughter Alyssa & her husband Jake, great-grandson Parker, and just born in December, great-granddaughter McKenzie. He is also survived by brothers Delton of Canyon and Lee of Vigo Park. While saddened by his death, the family has joy and peace knowing that he is in Heaven with our Lord and with daughter Fara and parents Roland & Mary Billie who preceded him in death. Gary was born on Sep 2, 1943, in Tulia. He grew up in Abilene, at Middlewell (near Dumas), and at Vigo Park. He graduated from Tulia High School in 1961 and then attended West Texas State University for three years. Gary and Ann Richardson were married on Sep 3, 1961 at Vigo Park. They farmed and raised cattle at Vigo Park, enjoyed golf, and were avid drag racers. He was inducted into the Amarillo Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2017. He was active in the Farmer's Union. Gary was a lay minister in the Methodist Church and regularly attended the Vigo Park Community Church. Funeral service will be Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 2pm at the First United Methodist Church in Tulia, officiated by Archie Echols, Mark Pittman, and Tom Stribling. Burial will follow at Wayside Cemetery. Visitation will be at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia from 6:00pm to 7:30pm Friday, January 17, 2020. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family suggests in lieu of flowers that stuffed animals be brought to the funeral to be donated to children's organizations.
