August 5, 2020 Gerrit (Jerry) Nop went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus. He was born in Friesland, Holland on January 30, 1940. He is the son of Walter Nop & Elizabeth (Malda) Nop. Gerrit along with his parents and siblings immigrated to the United States in 1958. He loved this country because of the freedoms and the opportunities it provided, namely, to begin a dairy in Goshen, New York, with his brother Hank 59 years ago. There he met his wife, Charlotte Bakker. They were married on March 25, 1966. In 1969, Gerrit and Charlotte, Hank and his wife, Alida, bought a farm in Vermont and named it Nop Brothers. Gerrit and Charlotte raised their four children in Vermont. Gerrit was an active member of the New Haven United Reformed Church by serving multiple terms as elder. In 2008, Gerrit and Charlotte moved to Plainview, Texas, to start a small dairy for the partnership. He was a member at the Providence PCA church in Lubbock, Texas, where they had many friends. He loved the dairy business and loved to chat with those in the business and well, to anyone who was beside him. Gerrit and Charlotte have made Christ central to their lives. Gerrit is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte, of 54 years; his children Walter & Stephanie Nop of Wallkill, New York, Louis & Susan Nop of Middlebury, Vermont, Michael & Sonja Nop of Huxley, Iowa, Dan & Elizabeth Byl of Maurice, Iowa; his grandchildren Jake, Olivia, Jack, Will & Gavin, Katherine, Victor, Vanessa, Johannes, Edmund & Robyn, Micah, Boaz, Asa. As well as his partners and “Sons” whom he loved to work with: Warren & Jennifer, William & Marsha, John Nop & Liza Shields. And his siblings: Hank (Alida), Julie Wildschut (Randy), & Martin (Marguerite) and his sister-in-law Betty (Bing). He is preceded in death by his brothers, Johannes Nop in 1948 and Bing Nop in 2018. Funeral services will be held 6:30 P.M. Friday, August 7, 2020 at Providence PCA, 3301 34th St. in Lubbock, TX. Burial will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Prospect Cemetery in Vergenes, Vermont
