Tulia, Texas--Gracie Lou Altman Millsap, 82, went to be with Jesus on February 15, 2020 in Lubbock, TX. Funeral services were held on Tuesday February 18, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Tulia. A graveside service was held at Enochs Cemetery in Enochs, TX at 2:30 pm. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
Gracie was born to Perry Alford “Dude” Altman and Alma Toewes Altman on August 3, 1937. She grew in Christ alongside her siblings in Enochs, TX. She found the love of her life and married Kenneth Millsap on November 23, 1960 in Enochs, TX. Together, they shared two beautiful daughters in their home in Tulia, TX. Gracie served God throughout her life by unconditionally loving everyone around her. She fulfilled her name of Grace as a nurse, and was everyone’s “Mimi,” providing care to children in her home and community. She was a homemaker and was Kenneth’s “carpenter’s assistant” and traveled all around the US, with Kenneth, helping with insurance adjusting and embracing each community they visited. She volunteered often, touching the lives of school children and precious special needs children with her church of Cavalry Baptist. She also served as a missionary with international dental trips to Mexico. She brought light to everyone that knew her and gave joy at every opportunity. She was the epitome of love.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Alma Toewes Altman; father, Perry Alford “Dude” Altman; brother Wayland Altman and wife Jo; brother Donney Altman; sister Modene Altman Coats and husband Kenneth Coats; sister Alene Altman Byrum and husband Vick Byrum; brother-in-law R.H. Baker; and brother-in-law David Millsap.
She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years Kenneth Millsap; her oldest daughter Kena Phillips and husband Tony of Lubbock, TX; her youngest daughter Valerie Millsap and Anna of Cheyenne, WY; ten grandchildren: Kennison “Sonni” Menaldi and husband Adam of Corpus Christi, TX; Mika Anderson and husband Jared of Dallas, TX; Stormi Lynn Barkley and husband Stephen of North Platte, NE; Kaitlynn “Kaiti” DeVoss and Austin Martin of Cheyenne, WY; Andrew Phillips and wife Mackenzie of Fort Worth, TX; Amanda Houchin and husband Daniel of Lubbock, TX; Crystal Hinton and husband Brian of Tyler, TX; Felicity Hannsz of Haskell, TX; and four great-grandchildren Cora, Shawn, Hannah, and McKinley. She is also survived by her sister Nadene Altman Baker of Morton, TX; brother-in-law Keith Millsap and wife Mikki of Pampa, TX; sister-in-law Charlene Millsap of Levelland, TX; and sister-in-law Zelta Wolfenbarger of Amarillo, TX. She is also survived by numerous much-loved nieces and nephews.
She will be loved and missed by everyone that had the privilege of knowing her.
