Guadalupe Luera (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas-Guadalupe Luera, 90, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018 in Amarillo, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 23, 2018 in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Father David Contreras officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.   A rosary will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel.   Guadalupe was born on February 16, 1928 in Colorado City, Texas to Benjamin D. and Maria Luisa Media Luera. The Luera family lived in Knickerbocker, Texas until moving to Tulia in 1947. Guadalupe helped her mother raise her brothers and sisters. She attended school in Tulia and went to Nursing School in Amarillo and worked at Swisher Memorial Hospital for 48 years and after retirement she was a volunteer for the Pink Ladies Auxiliary. Guadalupe loved to sew, make candy for her siblings and was a great cook. She was a member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit and was a member of the Guadalupanas.   She is preceded in death by her parents: Benjamin and Maria Luisa Luera, her sister: Maria Elena Ontiveros, three brothers: Robert Luera, Manuel Luera and Augustine Luera.   She is survived by her son: William Luera, two granddaughters: Erika Maria Luera and Dezzarae Danielle Luera, three sisters: Amelia Suiter, Micelia Ramirez and Ophlia Garcia, two brothers: Pedro Luera and Benjamin Luera, Jr.   Online condolences may be made at www.kornerstonefunerals.com.
