Harley J. Redin, one of the most influential figures in women’s basketball history and former head coach of the Wayland Baptist Flying Queens passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at the age of 100. A private gravesite service is planned and the family will plan a memorial service at a later date. Redin was the head coach for the Flying Queens from 1955-73, compiling a 437-68 record and leading the team to six national AAU championships and six second-place finishes. He was named one of the top people in sports in the state of Texas from 1950 to 2000 by Sports Illustrated.
