Herbert “Herb” Wallace, 87, of Plainview went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, December 15, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at College Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Smith, officiating and Rev. Don Robertson and Rev. Kerry Drake, assisting. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2018 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Herb was born on October 14, 1931 to H.R. “Whitey” and Mary Wallace in the Lakeview Community of Hall County, Texas as the youngest of six children. He moved with his family to Spade, TX in 1942 and graduated from Spade ISD. He later attended the Lippert Business School in Plainview and lived in Plainview from 1950 until his passing. He worked as an accountant at Byron Jackson Pumps in Plainview where he later became owner. His passion for antique clocks and their history was his lifetime hobby. He started the local chapter of the NAWCC, National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. He was recently awarded a 50 year lifetime achievement award by the organization. Herb also loved restoring and showing antique cars. Herb and Esther started the Amarillo and Lubbock Chapters of the Whirlwind Sam’s RV Club. Herb actively participated in the Gideons. He was a member of College Heights Baptist Church where he was actively involved in leadership at his church, serving as a Deacon, and Sunday school teacher. He also served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer and Trustee of Parkview Baptist Church in Plainview. Herb met and married the love of his life, Esther Kauffman on February 16, 1962 in Gruver, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents: Whitey and Mary Wallace and his siblings: Carlton, Robert, Leroy, Dean, and Evelyn. He is survived by his wife: Esther Wallace of Plainview, two daughters: Donna Hooten and husband Dean of Bowie, Texas and Linda Drake and husband Kerry of Plainview; five grandchildren: Tanner Hooten, Richard Hooten, Danny Hooten, Abbie Drake and Sadie Drake and four great grandchildren.
