Irene Castellon Mings (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas-Irene Castellon Mings, 53, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 13, 2021, at 10:00 AM in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Father David Contreras officiating with burial following at Happy Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia, Texas.

Irene was born on May 11, 1968, in Tulia to Cruz Louis and Maria Reyes (Urias) Castellon. Irene loved to horseback ride and was very active as a teenager and graduated from Happy High School. Irene went on a blind date to the play “Texas” at Palo Duro Canyon where she met the love of her life Charles. M. Mings. They got married on May 7, 1988, in Happy, TX. They moved to Hobbs, New Mexico and started a family and later came to Texas and has lived here ever since. She fostered and cared for thirty children for ten years and the children always will remember her quote she would say “mama said knock you out.” She put others before herself and was a member of the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Happy.

She is survived by her husband; Charles M. Mings of Canyon, her children; Annamarie Watson & husband Nicolas of Amarillo, Timothy I. Mings and wife Amber of North Dakota, Joshua John Mings and Bella Mings both of Canyon and Aeryka Smith and husband Chris of Amarillo, her grandchildren; Averee Watson and Kayleigh Smith, her parents; Cruz and Maria Castellon of Happy, her siblings; David Castellon of Panhandle, Fanny Castellon of Happy, Patsy Crabtree of Conway, TX, and Christina Diller of San Antonio, her father-in-law; Dwayne T. Mings, three nieces and nephews; Joshua Castellon, David Castellon, Jr. and Cataleya Diller.
