Tulia, Texas-Ismael Ortiz, 49, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 5:00 to 7:30 PM at the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 PM MST in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral Catholic Church in Las Cruses, New Mexico followed by a Rosary and Mass. Ismael Ortiz was born on September 10, 1972 in Col. Cardenas, Chihuahua Mexico to Ismael and Rita (Valenzuela) Ortiz. At the age of fifteen Ismael and his father migrated to the United States in worked in Las Cruses, New Mexico as a migrant farm worker. As he was growing up, he got into the concrete industry working as a concrete finisher for many years. He married Christina Gutierrez on July 4, 1998 in Mexico. Ismael and Christy came to Tulia in 2007 and opened a clothing store called Ashly’s Boutique. Ismael wanted to fulfil his dreams in opening a restaurant “Aylin’s Cafe” which was his pride and joy throughout the fourteen years. He worked very hard around the restaurant and was always trying to do something new or do some upgrading. Ismael will be remembered by his humble personality especially greeting everyone who came to eat at his restaurant and the hard worker he was. On his days off he would enjoy his time with his family going to the movies and eating popcorn which was his favorite and when he would go shopping with his family he would get lost around the store and he would whistle to the girls to find where they were at. He was an amazing husband, father, son, and brother. Ismael was a member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit. He is preceded in death by his father; Ismael Ortiz, his brother; Juan Manuel Orozco. He is survived by his wife; Christy Gutierrez of Tulia, his daughters; Ashly Gutierrez of Las Cruses, New Mexico and Aylin Ortiz of Tulia, his son; Cezar Edwardo Ortiz of Colorado, his mother; Rita Valenzuela Ortiz of Las Cruses, New Mexico, his siblings; Maria Griselda Valenzuela of Tulia, Maria Guadalupe Ortiz of Las Cruses, New Mexico, Gabriel “El Shorty” Ortiz of Las Cruses, New Mexico and Alberto Grajeola of Colorado Springs.
