Jack F McDaniel, 85, of Tulia, TX, died Monday June 19, 2023. He was born at home in Sparta, IL July 6, 1937 to Joseph Wm and Doris Emma Brelje McDaniel. Jack joined the US Coast Guard in October of 1954 to April 1960. He then joined the US Army in September 8, 1961 to June 19, 1970 and from July 30, 1970 to April 30, 1976. During his military service Jack served in many locations including Long Beach, CA and the big island of Hawaii while in the Coast Guard and while in the Army some of his postings included Ft Hood, TX, Fort Knox, KY, in France and Germany, two tours in the Vietnam conflict and Fort Campbell, KY from which he retired.. After his military service he worked as a prison guard and as a security guard. Jack married Edna Mae Hitzemann on August 1, 1964 in Mexico. They latter divorced.Jack married Alice Kay Hartmann on January 20, 1985 in Steeleville, IL. She survives. Jack was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Plainview, TX, the VFW in Chester, IL and was a long time member of Randolph County Genealogical Society in Steeleville, IL. He enjoyed the outdoors and camping. In his latter years he loved to watch birds and the squirrels in his yard. Jack is also survived by children Jody (Lisa) McDaniels of Colorodo Springs, CO and Jason (Jennifer) McDaniels of Sparta, IL; grandchildren Shelby McDaniels and Brayden McDaniels of Sparta, IL; Brother Joe Frederick McDaniels of Steeleville, IL and Sisters Judith Kay Kinder of Willisville, IL and Patricia Ann (Mike)Gemmill of Missouri, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews. He is also survived by Brother-in Law Roger Hartmann of Perryville, MO and Sisters-in-law Betty Qualls of Percy, IL and May (Mark) Rose of Chester, IL. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Brother-in-law Norman Kinder, Sister-in-law Charlene McDaniels, Brother-in-law John C. Hartmann, nephew John C. Hartmann Jr. and Great-Nephew Michael George Forsting. It was Jack's wish to be Cremated. His ashes will be inurned at a Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to any Veterans organization or Doner's Choice.
