James Edward Atkins (Plainview)

James Edward Atkins, 86, of Plainview passed away on September 26, 2021.  A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. in Parklawn Memorial Gardens with his daughters, Mary Pevehouse and Sondra Loafman officiating. 

A visitation will be held from 9:00 till service time on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

James was born October 9, 1934 in Celeste, Texas to Kara Lee and Cordie Mae (Sharp) Atkins. James and Marie Driver were married on February 7, 1954.  He worked as a Scale Tech for Rusty’s Weigh for 14 years and was self employed for 35 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He loved to fish, go camping and growing his garden. He loved to fly his airplane.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers, Billy Francis Atkins, Clifford Atkins and Don Atkins.

Survivors include his daughters, Mary Pevehouse and husband James of Bracketville, Sondra Loafman and husband Roy of Plainview; a brother, L.C. Atkins of Hurst; grandchildren, Casey Loafman, Rance Loafman, Landon Loafman, Lori Loafman, Robin Guldenpfennig, Trevor Pevehouse, Zachary Pevehouse; great grandchildren, Connor, Hadlee, Reid, Raelynnn, Callen, Rory Belle, Camden, Rhett, and Hudson.

The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Pastor’s Class, First Baptist Church, 205 W. 8^th Street, Plainview, Texas 79072.
