James Wesley Smith (Plainview)

After a brief illness, James W. Smith, 87, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, September 17, 2018. He was born on April 25, 1931 in Lakeview, TX to K.F. and Lillie Smith. He moved to the Finney Switch Community in 1953 where he worked and raised his family. He is preceded in death by his Parents; Sisters, Vera Haire and Francis Moore; Son, Wesley Lynn Smith and Son-in-law, Mark Dennis. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; Children, Sheryl Dennis of Hooks, TX, Buster Smith and wife, Janet, of Plainview, Karla Morrison of Plainview; Six Grandchildren, Brigada Hiser & husband, Keith, Lindy Pochucha & husband Nate, Brady Owens & wife, Tammy, Matt Smith & wife, Taylor, Sam Smith & wife, Hannah, and Jessica Dougherty; Eight Great-Grands, Ansen Hiser, Olivia, Eloise, Margot and Cora Smith; Eli, Wyatt and Sadie Pochucha; Brother, C.P. Smith, and Sister, Nell Patchin. A celebration of his life & visitation will be held Saturday, September 29th, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church (formerly Finney Baptist Church), 2153 FM 788. James loved his family with ALL of his heart, blessed them immensely and will be dearly missed by many.
