J.C. "Jay" Weddel (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas- J.C. “Jay” Weddel, 95, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018 in Tulia. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Central Church of Christ with Mr. Rick Bloodworth officiating. A graveside service will held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeview, Texas Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Per Jay:

Jay was born on December 17, 1923 in Johnson County, Oklahoma to George and Gussie (Barr) Weddel. 

Jay was an excellent cook and has given food to many people in Swisher County. Jay stayed with his parents until they both passed away. He didn’t have a lot of education, but studied the bible from an early age. He studied veterinary medicine for livestock and medical manuals. He has helped raised six set of kids in his lifetime. Jay loves little children. He was a member at Central Church of Christ in Tulia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Orvil Weddel, Amos Weddel, Guy Weddel,

Evet “Dink” Weddel and Elmer Weddel, his sisters: Willie May Alexander and Avylee Nix.

His is survived by his nieces and nephews: Tommy Addison, Jimmy Weddel, Orvile “Sport” Weddel, Martha “Marty” Hutto, Will Weddel, Karen Bridges and Rockey Weddel.
