Jeanell Drake (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Jeanell Drake, 65, died on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 22, 2021 in the First Assembly of God Church in Tulia with Rev. James Jones and Rev. Harold Drake officiating. Burial will follow in Kress Cemetery in Kress, Texas. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

Jeanell was born on October 11, 1955 in Olton to David M. and Thelma Marie Jones. She grew up in Kress and graduated from Kress High School in 1974. She received her LVN degree from South Plains College and later received her RN from Regency Academy. She worked for Swisher Memorial Hospital then, Covenant Hospital in Plainview. She came back to Swisher Memorial as Director of Nurses and return to Covenant Hospital in Plainview where she retired in 2016.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Roy Jones and Michael Jones.

She is survived by her children: Jason and Christina Drake of College Station and Anita and Wade Byrd of Amarillo, her brother: Stephen Jones of Brownwood, three sisters: Jean Kuhn of Achille, Oklahoma, Donna and Pete Gibson of Brownwood and June and Chuck Mann of Warr Acres, Oklahoma, four grandchildren: Kailey and Michael Grady, Kade Byrd, Kyler Byrd and Kylie Romero and one great grandchild: Brantley Grady and one on the way; Kloie Reign Grady.
