Jerry McCune (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas-Jerry McCune, 86, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 23, 2019 in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Russ Panzer, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. John Elmer (Jerry) McCune, Jr. was born on May 1, 1933 in Tulia to John Elmer and Eva Pearl McCune, Sr. He lived in the Elkins Community before moving to the Valley View Community. He started schools there and later transferred to Happy Schools and graduated Happy High School in 1950. He served in the US Army during the Korean War Era. He farmed the family farm all his life. He also worked as a prison guard at the Tulia Unit for several years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Tulia. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Johnnie Pearl Knowles and one brother: Don. L. McCune. He is survived by his children: Dwayne McCune and wife Shelly of Canyon, Johnny McCune and wife Christa of Lubbock and Shari Hernandez and husband Ric of Arlington, one sister: Zee Sykes of Amarillo, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
