Jim Reynolds went to be with our Lord on April 29, 2018 in Lubbock, TX at the age of 80. He is survived by his wife, Beth Reynolds (McLaughlin) of Lubbock; children, Randy Reynolds and wife Jayne of Lubbock TX, Rhonda Bownds and husband Kenneth of New Deal TX; grandchildren, Brandon and Ariel Bownds of Austin, TX, Bobby Bownds of Houston TX, Travis and Ashleigh Reynolds and great-granddaughters, Kayleigh Ann and Brinleigh Faith of Lubbock TX; sibling, Jane Baughman and husband Charles of Grandbury, TX as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Bernice Reynolds of Lockney, TX. Jim was born in his home on August 30, 1937 in Tulia, TX to Willis and Bernice Reynolds. He graduated from Lockney High School and attended Texas Tech University and Watson Business College in Plainview. After college, he worked with his dad and became the publisher of the Lockney Beacon. Soon after, Jim married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Beth McLaughlin on July 10, 1958 and resided in Lockney. In 1972, Jim and his family moved to Crosbyton where he purchased the Crosbyton Review and was the publisher of that paper for sixteen years. Jim assisted in publishing the Floyd County Hesperian for a couple of years before he and Beth moved to Tulia where he was the publisher of the Tulia Herald for another six years. The newspapers he owned and published received over 200 awards for excellence. Jim then completed his career by working for the TDCJ for another eleven years. Some of his accomplishments include; Man of Year in Crosbyton, long time member of the Lion’s Club as well as holding many offices, committee of three to help bring the All-American Football Game to Lubbock which funded a kidney dialysis clinic for Lubbock, Charter member of Brazos Offset Printing and Blanco Offset Printing, long time member of American Quarter Horse Association as well as accomplished breeder of quarter horses. He was an active and dedicated member in each of his home churches in addition to being a deacon and chairman of the deacons in the First Baptist Church, of Crosbyton and Tulia. Jim and Beth currently attend services at Raider Ranch in Lubbock where they reside. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 1st at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia, Texas from 6-8 pm followed by funeral services on Wednesday, May 2nd at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Tulia, Texas. His body will be laid to rest in Plainview. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jim’s life.
