JoAnn Dunnam (Plainview)

JoAnn Dunnam, 91, died on June 6, 2023 in Olton, Texas. Funeral service will at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 9, 2023, at Plainview Methodist Church in Plainview, Texas with Rev. Rob Lindley officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview, Texas.

JoAnn Breashears Dunnam was born on My 8, 1932, in Plainview, Arkansas to Ned and Jewell Breashears. She was raised by Effie and Virgil Thomas, her grandparents, in her early teens. She graduated salutatorian of her high school and was elected prom queen. She was a fierce basketball player in high school. After graduation, while visiting friends in Plainview, Texas, she met the love her life, Raymond Dunnam. They were married on August 12, 1950, and their marriage lasted for 66 years.

JoAnn worked as the library aide at Edgemere Elementary School until she retired. She loved working with the children. She was one of the founding members of Trinity United Methodist Church, and served by teaching Sunday School, youth group and Vacation Bible School. Later, she joined First United Methodist Church and volunteered in the School for Little People. She delivered weekly altar flower arrangements to shut-ins, as well as the Christmas poinsettias.

JoAnn loved to cook, decorate, play bridge, and tell Ray what to do. She is survived by three children; Ken Dunnam and wife Kay of Frisco, Texas, Karla Dunnam Rush and husband Doug of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Kirk Dunnam and wife Brenda of Monahans, Texas. She is survived by her grandchildren; Christopher and Mathew Rush, Kourtney Dunnam Hooker, and Thomas Dunnam and Sydney Dunnam Tossas. JoAnn has one great-grandchild, Hagen Ruth Hooker.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond and her grandson, Mathew.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials can be sent to Runningwater Draw Care Center at 3001 13th St. Olton, Texas 79064.
