Tulia, Texas—Joe Edd Burnett, 87, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022, in the Palliative Care Unit at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 10, 2022, in the First United Methodist Church in Tulia with Lee Moore and Dee Roberts officiating. A private burial will follow at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
Joe Edd was born to M. Chester and Annie Pearl Bice Burnett on December 29, 1934, at their home in the San Jacinto Community. He was the oldest of three children. His elementary school years were at San Jacinto and Silverton. He attended high school and graduated from Tulia High School. Joe Edd farmed and ranched with his dad until his dad’s death. He was the proud owner of registered Hereford cattle. He won stock shows with his registered bulls and heifers in shows like El Paso. He was still active in farming with his sons.
Joe Edd is survived by his wife, Charlotte, two sons: Jim Bob Burnett and wife Jennifer and Lee Burnett, two sisters: Billie Sprague and Ellen Edwards and husband Harold, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, M. Chester, and Annie Pearl Burnett and one great grandson: Seth Riley Thomason.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, PO Box 330, Tulia, Texas 79088, Harvest Connexion Amarillo, 4808 S. Bonham, Amarillo, Texas 79104, or a favorite Charity.
