Joe M. Rios, Jr. (Plainview)

Joe M. Rios, Jr., 86, of Plainview passed away on February 28, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 3, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father George Poonely officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. 

A rosary will be held at 6 P.M. on Sunday March 2, 2025 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel.

Joe was born on May 20, 1938 to Joe and Melquiadez Rios in Knox City, Texas. Joe was a true people person, never meeting a stranger and always welcoming everyone with open arms. He had an infectious spirit that lit up every room he entered. A dedicated truck driver, he truly enjoyed the journey of life and made friends wherever he went. A man of simple pleasures, Joe loved indulging in sweets and couldn't resist his favorite juicy fruit gum. He was known for his jovial nature and would often say, "See you in the funny papers," leaving a lasting smile wherever he went. He was an active and devoted member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview, where he found joy in participating in various church activities such as being a charter member of Knights of Columbus and Eucharistic minister.

Joe is preceded in death by his wife; Guadalupe "Lupe" Rios, parents; Joe P. Rios, Sr. and Melquiadez Munoz Rios, sisters; Jesusa "Jessie" Valladarez and Elvira Gonzales, brothers; Thomas Rios and Guadalupe Rios, and daughters; Georgia Faye Rios, Barbara Ann Pauda, and Jo Ann Gamboa.

Joe is survived by his daughter; Cynthia Rios Trevino and husband Jose of Plainview, Texas, one son; Thomas Glenn Rios and wife Norma of Lubbock, Texas, sisters; Erlinda Gonzales of Knox City, Texas and Anita Johnson of Austin, Texas, grandchildren, Jennifer Fulton and husband Carlton, Patrick Pauda, Justin Gamboa and wife Ashley, Marisabelle Trevino, Mercedes Trevino, Miranda Trevino, Joseph Rios and wife Estafani, and Tristen Rios, and nine loving great-grandchildren.
