Tulia, Texas --Joe Donald Vaughn was born on September 8, 1927 in Tulia TX to Joe Watson Vaughn and Viola Ethel Jobe Vaughn. He graduated from Tulia High School, attended Texas A&M College, served in the Navy at the end of World War II, and graduated from Texas A&M in 1949. He married the love of his life Marie Gayler in her parents’ home on June 18, 1950. Farming, ranching, ham radio and flying were but a few of his many talents. Joe and Marie retired many years ago and they loved fishing together and with friends. Their favorite fishin’ holes were scattered across Texas and in Mexico. They especially enjoyed Rockport Texas, taking up salt-water fishing, where they soon became well known icons, with Joe in his trademark bib overalls. Joe passed away Friday July 5th 2019 in Corpus Christi Texas. He is survived by the love of his life Marie, sons Joe H & wife Jana of Tulia, John W. of Kress, and daughter Cynthia Joiner & husband David of Sugarland, a grandson Ryan Maney & wife Monica of Snyder TX, granddaughter Cameron V. Joiner of Sugarland, and three great-granddaughters. Services are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia, TX & will be at 10:00 Wednesday July 10, 2019 in the chapel with Reverend Karel Smith of Amarillo officiating. Graveside services to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery at Tulia TX. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Pallbearers are Tim Rupp, Tom Vaughn, Rex Vaughn, Randy Falkenberg, Louis Cannon & Dwain Strange. Honorary Pallbearers are Perry Rupp, Boyd Vaughn, John Murray, Joe Hadley, Chris Murray, Paul Baen & Dorman Dunn.
