Johanna (Webb) Caviness Tulia

Tulia, Texas--Johanna Joy (Webb) Caviness was born October 3, 1963, to Dr. Morris and Virgie Webb in Plainview, Texas. Her beautiful name came from both of her grandmothers - Johanna Klaevemann and Joy Webb. Johanna passed from this life to her eternal life with her children by her side on Saturday, January 8, 2022.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 15, 2022, in the Central Church of Christ in Tulia, with Mr. Eddie Parrish officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 6:30 pm on Friday, January 14, 2022, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

Johanna was the middle child and the only girl. She was the proud sister of her older brother, Russell and her younger brother, David. In 1992, she gained two sisters when Russell married Mary Ellen and David married Marilyn. Johanna was raised in Tulia, Texas and was a proud 1982 Tulia Hornet graduate. She loved everything about her small, west Texas town, including her church family and keeping up with her classmates at the annual picnic.

Family was the most important part of Johanna’s life. She helped her parents for many years in their optometric practice. She was also a patient and loving caregiver for her mother in recent years. After Johanna moved to Fort Worth, she had the chance to be a proud aunt and attend many of David's kids’ sporting and school events. She also loved keeping up with Russell's girls and their academic and career accomplishments. She was the glue that held both her Smith and Webb sides of the family connected through phone calls, letters and texts with her cousins.

But it goes without saying that Johanna’s greatest role in life was as mother to Andrew and Abby. Andrew was born in 1991 and Abby was born in 1996. She cherished her years raising them in Canyon, Texas and being close to her parents in Tulia. She was so proud of both Andrew's and Abby's college education and careers, and she continued to enjoy this phase of parenting. Andrew married Kim McGuffin in 2018 and the "trio" made Johanna's life complete. The most important gifts she gave her children are a strong faith in God and many strong relationships with Christian friends and family, that will continue to influence them the rest of their lives.

The Webb genetics are known for making friends and keeping them for life. Johanna definitely had that gene. She had deep relationships with friends from childhood, high school, every stage of her life and most recently, new friendships made at church during her time living in the Fort Worth area.

She started her days focused on God’s word. Her friends and family in Texas and beyond enjoyed her regular early-morning Facebook posts of daily scripture. Johanna enjoyed pairing the verse with the perfect picture for all to be encouraged.

Johanna lost many she loved during her life - her father, Dr. Morris Webb, in 2014; her mother, Virgie Webb, in September 2021; and her older brother, Russell, in 2016. She also lost her cousin, Tommy Smith, and her uncles Gordon Smith, Dale Webb and Dr. Edgar Webb.

Her family loves her so much - her son, Andrew and his wife, Kim of Fort Worth, TX; her daughter, Abby Caviness of Yukon, OK; her sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Webb of Port Richey, FL; and her brother and sister-in-law David and Marilyn Webb of Colleyville, TX. Johanna treasured her nieces and nephews Annie Webb, Jeannine Webb, Kyle Webb, Cade Webb and Sara Webb. She is also cherished by her aunts and uncles, Joan Smith of Yorktown, TX; Dorothy Webb of Danville, IN; Dr. Stewart and Pat Webb of Plainview, TX; Pete and Linda Webb of Rockwall, TX; and Clem and Sue Webb of Beaumont, TX. Johanna had a tremendous amount of love and strength that came from her uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family. She has cousins that are like siblings and friends that are like family that join in our grief.

She loved and was loved.
