Mr. Jose Garcia, a dedicated and hardworking man, passed away on June 19, 2024, in Tulia. A Memorial/Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 5:00 PM in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Pastor Richard Trevino officiating. Services are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
Joe was born on August 13, 1936, in Shiner, Texas, he was the son of Joe and Maria Garcia. In 1957, he bravely enlisted in the US Army Reserve, serving his country with honor before embarking on a successful farming career. He married Ernestina Trevino on May 26, 1958.Mr. Garcia worked for Nelson Borchardt before venturing into independent farming with his own equipment, a testament to his strong work ethic and determination. Later in his career, he joined Wrangler Feed Yard, making valuable contributions until his well-deserved retirement. In his golden years, he found joy and purpose in landscaping in Tulia, showcasing his talent and passion for outdoor work until his health started to falter. A man of many hobbies, Mr. Garcia particularly enjoyed spending time with his cherished 1973 Convertible Chevy Caprice, winning numerous accolades at various car shows. Additionally, his love for riding motorcycles was a lifelong passion that brought him immense joy and fulfillment. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle along with his sons (Leroy and Billy Ray). The Garcia family expresses their gratitude to Traditions Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Mr. Garcia during his final days.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Maria Garcia, his two sons, Michael Anthony Garcia and Leroy Daniel Garcia, and 5 brothers, Jessie, Elivado, Alex, Alfred, and Henry Garcia.
He is survived by his wife, Ernestina Trevino Garcia of Tulia, his son, Billy Ray Garcia and wife Carmen of Tulia his daughter, Bobbie Jo Vanek and husband Michael of Yoakum, TX, his brothers, Victor Garcia and Raymond Garcia both of Victoria, TX, and Rudy Garcia of Yoakum, TX, his sister, Eva Maeker of Shiner, TX, his daughter-in-law, Maria Garcia of Tulia, TX, his Grandchildren, T.J. Garcia, Felicia Register, Joe David Garcia, Zachary Basaldua, Britni Benjamin, Jacob Basaldua, Maureen Cora Garcia and Mariah Jo Basaldua Sanchez, and nine great grandchildren.
