Jose "Joe" Urbina (Plainview)

Jose “Joe” Urbina, 90, of Edmonson passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Brandon Rowell officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A rosary will be held Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. at Kornerstone.

Joe was born in Mexico to Calixto Urbina and Felicitas Ortiz. He became a farmer and made his home in Edmonson in the 1960’s. He married Irene Sonen on April 5, 1961 in Portales, New Mexico. After retiring from farming, he enjoyed spending time with family. One thing he really looked forward to was spending his afternoons with friends at the Walmart McDonald’s. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother.  Those who knew him loved him.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Urbina; son Emilio Ybarra; and a grandchild, Carine Flores.

He is survived by his children, Irene Ybarra of Amarillo, Belen Ybarra of Corpus Christi, Alma Guajardo and husband Francisco of Plainview, Albert Urbina and wife Cynthia of Canyon, Rudy Urbina and wife Marie of Edmonson; two sisters, Edelmira Urbina Ortiz and Ana Maria Urbina Ortiz both of Monterey, Mexico; 13 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
