Tulia, Texas-Josefa C. Luera, 91, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in Tulia, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Monsignor Harold Waldow and Deacon Jackie Gunnels officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A rosary will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 6:30 to 7:00 pm in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Josefa was born on March 19, 1926 to Eduardo and Eustacia Castillo in Bishop, Texas. The Castillo families were all migrant workers when Josefa met and married Robert Luera. She had her hands full raising all her boys and always made fresh tortillas every day. Josefa had a beautiful singing voice and had a very strong faith. She was a member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents: Eduardo and Eustacia Castillo, her husband: Robert Luera, two daughters: Margarita Luera and Beatrice Luera; her brothers and sisters: Juanita Verver, Pablo Castillo, Hilario Castillo, Vicenta Velasquez, Julia Castillo, Amalia Castillo and Felipa Nunez. She is survived by her three sons: Bill Luera and wife Maria of Austin, Roy Luera of Tulia and Vincent Luera of Amarillo, her grandchildren: Ryan Luera, Shina Luera, Roni Hernandez, Manny Hernandez, and Jackie Hernandez, her great grandchildren: Kyndall Reese Luera, Kallie Raelyn Luera, Brittany Perez, Serena Aleman, Jordan Hernandez, Sierra Guevara and Noah Guevara.
