Juan Resendiz Torres, 72, of Petersburg, Texas, was born in Mesa del Salto, Rioverde, San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
On December 13, 2018, God looked down on His planned paradise and said, "I need a caretaker." So, God called for His most loyal farmer.
Juan immigrated to the United States of America in October of 1976. Using his talented, hardworking hands he demonstrated his most sincere appreciation for every opportunity - professionally and personally.
He knew the sacrifices that came with the life he chose. With callused hands, he worked the fields with pride and with the goal of producing a fruitful product that would support the foundation built by his extended family, the Fullingim's of Petersburg, Texas.
Juan was a proud farmer and a true cowboy. This was evidenced in his gentlemen way of being. He wore his hallmark wrangler pearl snap shirt, wrangler jeans, straw hat, leather work boots, a signature denim jacket, and his favorite handmade, leather crafted belt.
Without complaint he woke up before dawn, day after day, knowing his 40-hour work week would end on Tuesday noon and put in another 72-hours of preparation time during harvest season. Juan always ran at double speed to get the cotton in ahead of the winter weather and be the first to stop midfield to help anyone in need. He ran his boll buggy with pride during harvest; plow deep and straight and never cut corners.
Juan had an unwavering faith in God and love for his family. He lit up every room with smiling eyes and an infectious laugh. He never met a stranger and made his humble home available to old and new friends.
Juan's greatest achievement was raising his children in the land of opportunity - The United States of America. And, what gave his heart the most fulfillment was knowing that his children would earn the benefits of that blessing. He aspired to be the best grandfather and adoringly telling them, "I love you, too much!"
Juan is survived by Cipriana Hernandez, two daughters, Maria Resendiz-Birchfield and husband Steven Mark Birchfield and Asusena Resendiz, and four sons, Pedro Resendiz, Juan Jose Resendiz wife Marcela Oliva Resendiz, Ramon Resendiz and wife Angelica Rodriguez Resendiz, and Daniel Resendiz; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; four brothers, Isidoro, Norberto, Tomas, and Ramiro, and one sister, Maria.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Martina Resendiz, and two brothers, Miguel and Faustino.
