June J. Wason (Plainview)

June J. Wason, 90, formerly of Plainview passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022 in San Antonio. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, July11, 2022 in the First United Methodist Church. A graveside will follow in the East Mound Cemetery in Matador under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2022 from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.

June was born on June 15, 1932 in Whiteflat, Texas to Preston and Mintie Spray. She grew up there and graduated from Matador High School. She married Don Wason on May 17, 1949 in Paducah. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, and a very active member of First United Methodist Church in Plainview for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband: Don R. Wason, one son: Kelly Don Wason, and two sisters: Peggy Martin and Barbara Hale.

June is survived by one daughter, Karen Wason of Dallas; three grandchildren, Sarah Schmalzried and husband Cody of Kress, Emily Guerrero and husband Anthony Guerrero of San Antonio, and Zane Varnon of Dallas; and three great grandchildren, Sterling and Mico Schmalzried, and Dominic Guerrero.
