Karen Faye Collins was called home to Heaven on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at the age of 73. Karen was born in Tulia, Texas on November 15, 1950 to Georgia Faye Fant. After the death of her mother in 1964, Karen was raised by her Uncle and Aunt, James and Mary Curry in Petersburg, TX. Karen graduated from Petersburg High School in 1969, and she married her high school sweetheart, Rodney Gene Collins on September 2, 1972 in McAdoo, TX. Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Georgia Fay Fant, Guardians, James and Mary Curry, Brothers, James Curry, John Curry, James Bagley, Sister Carolyn Curry and Grandson, Ethan Myles Tatum. Karen is survived by Husband, Rodney Collins of Petersburg, Son, Michael Collins of Idalou, and Daughter, Brandy Collins of McKinney, Granddaughters, Kelsey and Katie Beth Collins of Idalou, Elle Tatum of Plano, Grandsons Matt Collins of Idalou, and Evan Tatum of McKinney, Sister, Pam Lash of Pampa. Karen was a beloved and cherished educator of Petersburg ISD for 20 years where she taught World History and English as well as served as the High School Librarian. Karen had a love for music and enjoyed playing the piano for countless school, church, and community events. Karen was quick witted, often sarcastic, and she was passionate in her constant pursuit for knowledge and education. She was a voracious reader, spending much of her spare time reading and writing. Karen gave her all to her students, friends, family, husband, children and grandchildren, and she poured her energy, time, and life into making those around her feel loved and truly special. Visitation will be at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview, TX on Sunday, March 17, from 4-6pm. The Celebration of Life will be at the First Baptist Church of Petersburg, TX on Monday, March 18 at 2pm with the burial following at the Petersburg Cemetery.
