Kenneth W. Roberts, of Plainview, left the earth peacefully July 21, 2018. He was born on June 7, 1933 in Haskell, Texas. He graduated from Goree High School in 1950. He married Sammie Johnston in Knox City, Texas on March 7, 1953. Kenneth served in the army at the end of the Korean War from 1953 to 1955.
He and Sammie lived in Ft. Worth, Texas for 15 years and then moved to Plainview in May of 1971. Kenneth worked at various jobs before his retirement in 1998. Since his retirement he volunteered at Covenant Hospital with the auxiliary. He and Sammie were members of First United Methodist Church since 1986.
He enjoyed square dancing, playing bridge, his Sunday School Class and his Saturday morning breakfast with close friends.
He is survived by his wife, Sammie to whom he was married for 65 years. Two sons, Rodney and his wife Sherry of Lubbock, and Randy and his wife Angi of College Station. Five grandchildren, Jenna Sprott and her husband David, Cannon Roberts, Haden Roberts and his wife Jessie, Tristan Roberts and Halle Roberts. Four great-grandchildren, Brynleigh, Holden and Colin Sprott and Dean Roberts and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, S.C. & Ina Roberts and three brothers.
Family visitation will be at Kornerstone Funeral Directors on Monday evening, July 23rd from 6:30 to 8:00 with services at First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 24th at 2:00 pm. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church .
