Kenneth Earl Patton, 92, of Tulia, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Tulia. Familyvisitation will be Friday from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the Kornerstone Funeral Home in Tulia.Funeral services will be Saturday, January 20 at 11:00 am at the Kornerstone FuneralHome Chapel with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia.Kenneth was born January 19, 1925 to M.A. (Buck) and Fay Ola (Gaines) Patton at thefamily home in Motley County, Matador, Texas. He attended Plainview schools then joinedthe U.S. Navy, serving his country for three years during World War II. Most of his servicewas spent in the Pacific, stationed at Barber’s Point Naval Air Station on Oahu, Hawaii.Following his military service, Kenneth attended West Texas Teachers College in Canyonwhere he would meet his lifelong love, Quata Lee Cunningham. They were married May15, 1947 in Canyon, Texas. In 1954, they moved their family to Tulia where they raisetheir two sons and two daughters. Quata preceded him in death on August 22, 2014.Kenneth taught Building Trades at Tulia High School for 20 years. Kenneth taught manyyoung men how to build houses but he also taught them life skills. Kenneth was alsoactive in farming and cattle until it became necessary to be with his wife as her caretaker.Kenneth was a member of the VFW Post #1798 at Tulia.Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Quata, one sister, Faola Byrd, andthree brothers, Neal, Gaines and Gordon Patton.Kenneth is survived by his four children, Sherrol and Vicky Patton of Tulia, Dianna andMike Foster of Amarillo, Howard and Genelle Patton of Sunray, Perri and Clay Harper ofAmarillo, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Tom andSuzanne Cunningham of Lubbock and two nieces.The family suggests memorials be made to the Tulia Cemetery Association, PO Box 116,Tulia, TX 79088 or High Plains Children’s Home, PO Box 7448, Amarillo, TX 79114.Online condolences may be made at www.kornerstonefunerals.com.
