LaVerne Gregory Martin (Plainview)

LaVerne Gregory Martin of Plainview passed away on December 13, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 in the Family Life Chapel at First Baptist Church in Plainview with Dr. Travis Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.LaVerne was born on July 1, 1926 in Petersburg, Texas to Bess Mitchell and Marcus Jefferson Gregory. She married Charles B. Martin in 1944 and they established their home in Hart, Texas where they managed Nanny Farms for 30 years. In 1981, they retired to their ranch in San Saba, Texas. Mimi, as all who knew her, was a homemaker. The loves of her life were her husband and sons. She was especially adored by all her grandchildren. Mimi was a faithful member of First Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Mark and Carol Martin of San Saba, Texas and Doug and Erin Martin of Plainview, Texas; five grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. Jim and Amy Faught, Paige, John and Jake of San Saba; Christa Martin, Zach and Kenny of San Saba; Emily Foreman, Cooper, Connor, Marcus and Brynlee of Friendswood; Brad and Kara Martin, Braden, Cole and Adri of Plainview; Gerardo and Natalie Zavala, Sofia and Nico of San Antonio, Texas.She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and a great granddaughter. The family would like to give a special thanks to the loving caregivers at Santa Fe Place and Interim Hospice and a very special thank you to Juliette for her dedication to our Mimi.
