Linda Kay Cate (Plainview)

Linda Kay Cate, 72, of Plainview passed away on December 24, 2022.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 26, 2022 at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Joseph Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A visitation will be held before the funeral starting at 11:00 A.M. until service time there at Calvary Baptist Church.

Linda was born on May 7, 1950 in Vernon, Texas to Leonard and Pauline Rushing.  She grew up in Vernon, Wichita Falls, Lubbock before moving to Plainview in 1963.  She met the love of her life Freddy Cate in 1964 and they married on August 31, 1968.  She worked for Levi Straus, as a housekeeper at the Plainview Hospital, and also ran the soda fountain inside West Pharmacy.  Linda worked for PISD and later Aramark as a cafeteria manager for schools here in Plainview.  She was a member of Faith Baptist Church.  She loved garage sales, antiquing, cooking, and spending time with her grandkids and family.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Pauline Rushing; seven brothers and two sisters; and a granddaughter, Samantha Alvis.

She is survived by her husband Freddy Cate of Plainview; four children, Dennis Cate of Plainview, Melissa Alvis and husband Richard of Plainview, Amy Leatherman and husband Mark of Plainview, Michael Cate of Lubbock; one sister, Shirley Cline of Altus, OK; and three grandchildren, Kayla Alvis, Lilly Leatherman, Tate Leatherman.
