Happy, Texas-Lonnie G. Todd, 87, died Thursday, January 11, 2018. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in the First Baptist Church of Happy, Texas with Dr. Rick Shaw, officiating. A private burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mr. Todd was born on September 2, 1930 in Swisher County to Claude and Pauline Todd. He graduated from Happy High School in 1949. He married LaNelle Taylor on October 1, 1950. Lonnie was a farmer and rancher all his life in Swisher and Castro counties. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Swisher County Appraisal District. He was honored in Austin by the Texas Family Land Heritage Program for 100 years of continuous land ownership and agricultural production by the same family in 2005. He served on the Happy ISD school board for nine years and President, three of those years. He delivered Meals on Wheels, financially supported many local charities, and served as Sunday school secretary and trustee for the First Baptist Church of Happy for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Survivors include his wife, LaNelle Todd of Happy, one son, Kyle J. Todd of Tulia; and one daughter, Vicki Todd, EDD of Duvall, Washington.
