Lonnie Richard Treadway, 73, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Troy D. Scroggins officiating. Services are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
Lonnie was born on September 27, 1951, in Tulia, Texas, to Frank and Laverne Crow Treadway. He graduated from Tulia High School in 1970 and attended two years at Angelo State College, in San Angelo, Tx. Lonnie was a committed and dedicated individual, particularly in his role as a correctional officer for the Texas Department of Justice, where he served with distinction for seventeen years.
Lonnie's legacy will be cherished by his beloved wife, Ramona Elanie Treadway, whom he married on July 11, 1975, in Tulia.
Throughout his life, Lonnie was actively involved in his community, participating in organizations such as the Panhandle Grain and Feed Directors, Lions Club, and Toastmasters, as well as serving as a scout leader. He had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed activities such as hunting, participating in trap shooting and camping in Colorado for many years as a favorite pastime. His love for learning was a defining aspect of his character, as he often remarked that he learned something new every day.
Lonnie was proud of his accomplishments, which included making varsity in football for three years, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, and serving as President of the Lions Club and Chamber President for two Toastmasters clubs. His fondest memories revolved around spending precious time with his family during holidays and on trips.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Laverne Treadway, Brother-in-law Sam Bauer and Sister-in-law Patricia Treadway. Survived by wife Ramona Treadway, daughter Tiffany Treadway-Currey, grandson Skye Currey, son-in-law Adam Currey, brother Frank Treadway, and niece Shanna Treadway.
