Lou Stephens (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas-Lou Stephens, 95, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, in Pampa. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia. Arrangements are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Lou was born on February 14, 1928, in Turkey, Texas to Benjamin and Bertha (Eudy) Alexander. She graduated from Portales High School in Portales, New Mexico. After graduating she married Gale Stephens on March 29, 1948, in Portales. They had two children, Jerry and Sherry. In 1979 she enrolled at West Texas State University with a teaching degree in special education. Lou taught in Tulia and Happy. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ and taught Sunday school for many years. In her free time, she loved to sew, crochet and work in her yard. She enjoyed making ceramic pottery. Her fur baby “Lady Bug” was her constant companion for the past five years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Bertha Alexander, her brother, Leon Alexander and her husband, Gale Stephens. She is survived by her son; Jerry Stephens and wife Judy of Ft. Myers, Fl.; her daughter, Sherry Johnson and husband Jeff of Pampa, TX.; three grandchildren, Wendy Stephens of Montpelier, VT., Deanna Turner of Richmond, VA., Kyle Johnson of Roscoe, TX.
