Louise Kirk, 88, of Kress passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at 2 P.M. at Kress Cemetery in Kress, Texas. Services are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview. Louise was born on August 4, 1931 in Bugscuffle, Texas to Floyd “Buck” and Eucie Garrett. She graduated from Kress High School in 1949 and attended Watson’s Business College. She was the City secretary, Mayor and City Judge in Kress for many years. She loved to substitute teach at Kress Schools and had a special connection with young people. She also loved to do crossword puzzles, read and keep up with friends and family on Facebook. She had a great sense of humor, a contagious smile and a positive attitude. She loved her kids, grandkids and most of all her W.T. Louise was a Christian and a member of First Baptist Church in Kress. In 1998 she was named Woman of the Year; was honored in 2018 at Kress All School Reunion and Parade. Louise and two of her friends wrote the Kress High School Song that is still used today. She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Edd Watkins, one son, Buddy Watkins, one daughter Cindy Dean, three brothers, Kenneth Garrett, Dwain Garrett and Bruce Garrett. She is survived by her husband W.T. Kirk of Kress, TX; three daughters, Vickie Hughes & husband David of Plainview, Barbara Wunderlich of Cisco, TX and Karen Kirk of San Angelo, TX; five grandchildren, Tracy Hughes & wife Maygan, Reagan King & wife Carlynn, Stephanie Williams & husband James, Kirk Boatright & wife Jonna, and Kelli Snedecor & husband Scott; eight great grandchildren, Saige Boatright, Sadie Boatright, Colton Snedecor, Kallyn Snedecor, Kelsey Williams, Cade Williams, Weston King and Emeri King; three sisters-in-law, Jan Garrett of Golden, Co, Martha Warlick and husband Monte of Edgewood, NM and Faye Watkins of Amarillo, TX; numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials to Wayland Baptist University at 1900 W. 7th Street, CMB 1295, Plainview, Texas 79072 or to your favorite charity.
